{"id":3265,"date":"2018-10-11T16:31:20","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T14:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.gocept.com\/?p=3265"},"modified":"2018-10-11T16:31:20","modified_gmt":"2018-10-11T14:31:20","slug":"beta-permission-for-earl-zope-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.gocept.com\/2018\/10\/11\/beta-permission-for-earl-zope-extended\/","title":{"rendered":"Beta permission for Earl Zope extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earl Zope was hoping to get the final permission for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gocept.com\/2018\/07\/09\/saltlabs-sprint-zope-and-plone-sprint-in-a-new-location\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Python 3 wonderland<\/a>\u00a0on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gocept.com\/2018\/09\/28\/saltlabs-sprint-last-minute-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saltlabs Sprint<\/a>\u00a0in Halle last week. He has made good progress in settling down:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Zope claims compatibility with the newest Python standards (Python 3.7).<\/li>\n<li>Earl Zope now has new cloths for his administrative interface (called ZMI) as shown on the image above.<\/li>\n<li>Zope is playing nicer together with Prince Plone who is also migrating to the Python 3 wonderland<\/li>\n<li>Documentation got improved and at least partly updated to Zope 4.<\/li>\n<li>Zope got some other bug fixes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But this was not enough for the immigration authorities to give Earl Zope the final permission. The following was missing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a working and proven story how to migrate Earl Zope&#8217;s treasures stored the <code>Data.fs<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There was good <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/zopefoundation\/Zope\/pull\/285\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">progress towards<\/a> this goal but it could not be fully reached.\u00a0So gocept will have the honour to host another sprint maybe in May next year.<\/p>\n<p>The new beta licence has the id <code>4.0b6<\/code>\u00a0and can be achieved and used as described in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/zope.readthedocs.io\/en\/latest\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Zope documentation.<\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"geo-post-3265\" class=\"geo geo-post\" style=\"display: none\"><span class=\"latitude\">51.4789811<\/span><span class=\"longitude\">11.9789435<\/span><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earl Zope was hoping to get the final permission for the\u00a0Python 3 wonderland\u00a0on the\u00a0Saltlabs Sprint\u00a0in Halle last week.
