This is the right time to celebrate with a new sprint, as we have now even more space for sprinters. The new location is called the &#8220;Saltlabs&#8221;, a place for IT companies in Halle (Saale), Germany.<\/p>\n<h2>Sprint information<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Date: Monday, 1st until Friday, 5th of October 2018<\/li>\n<li>Location:\u00a0Leipziger Str. 70, Halle (Saale), Germany<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Sprint topics<\/h2>\n<p>This sprint has three main topics:<\/p>\n<h3>Create a final Zope 4 release<\/h3>\n<p>Before releasing a final version of Zope 4 we want to resolve <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/orgs\/zopefoundation\/projects\/1\">about at least 40 issues<\/a>: Some bugs have to be fixed,\u00a0 some functions have to be polished and documentation has to be written resp. reviewed. On the other hand there is the re-brush of the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/zopefoundation\/Zope\/pull\/249#issuecomment-398649581\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ZMI using Bootstrap<\/a>\u00a0which should be completed beforehand, as it modernizes the ZMI and allows for easier customisation, but might also be backwards incompatible with certain test suites. There is an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/etherpad.net\/p\/Zope_4_final\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Etherpad<\/a>\u00a0to write down ideas, tasks, wishes and work proposals, which are not currently covered by the issue tracker.<\/p>\n<h3>Port Plone to Python 3<\/h3>\n<p>The following tasks are currently open and can be fixed at the sprint:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>successfully run all Plone tests and even the robotframework tests on Python 3<\/li>\n<li>Zope 4 lost the\u00a0WebDAV support: find resp. create a replacement<\/li>\n<li>document the WSGI setup and test it in a production ready environment<\/li>\n<li>port as many as possible add-ons to Python 3 (e.g.\u00a0Mosaic and Easyform)<\/li>\n<li>work on the Migration of ZODB contents (<code>Data.fs<\/code>) to Python 3<\/li>\n<li>improve the test setup with <code>tox<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>start to support Python 3.7<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Polish Plone 5.2<\/h3>\n<p>The upcoming Plone 5.2 release will appreciate some love and care at the following items:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>new navigation with dropdown and better performance<\/li>\n<li>Barceloneta theme: ease the customisation and improve responsiveness<\/li>\n<li>parallelise the tests so they run faster<\/li>\n<li>remove Archetypes and other obsolete packages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See also the list of <a href=\"https:\/\/plone.org\/events\/community\/saltlabs-sprint-in-halle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">topics on plone.org for this sprint<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Organisational Remarks<\/h2>\n<p>In order to coordinate the participation for this sprint, we ask you to join us on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/de-DE\/Zope-Sprint\/events\/252468356\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meetup<\/a>. We can then coordinate the catering and requirements for space.<\/p>\n<p>As this sprint will be running longer than usual (five days), it is also possible to join only for a part of the week.
